Meet Dr. Sandra Newes

Dr. Sandra Newes (aka "Sandy") is a Licensed Psychologist operating Clear View Psychological Services SE, a clinical and consulting practice in the Asheville, North Carolina area. She has over 25 years of clinical experience and specializes in anxiety, stress, trauma, recovery, and resilience. She has provided Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) through Concierge Medicine and Psychiatry since 2019 and is among the most experienced KAP providers in the country, bringing a trauma informed and resiliency focused approach to psychedelic medicine work and training.

Dr. Newes combines excellent clinical and assessment skills, effective cutting-edge interventions, brain-based approaches, applied skills, and a commitment to ongoing professional education and training with a warm presence and a strong intuitive sense, allowing her to connect quickly and deeply with clients. Her overall style focuses on teaching the skills needed to move beyond mental health and stress-related issues to develop resilience and well-being. Along with ketamine assisted psychotherapy, she offers comprehensive psychological assessment, coaching and therapeutic intensives and regularly presents at conferences.

Dr. Newes is nationally recognized for her work in comprehensive psychological testing, clinical skills, work in outdoor behavioral healthcare, therapeutic program development and research, and trauma and resilience. She is invited to train staff members at therapeutic organizations across the country and regularly speaks at industry conferences and events. She offers custom trainings, as well as the Clinical First Responder (CFR) and Community Resilience Model (CRM) curriculums.  She is also recognized for her more recent work and training in ketamine assisted psychotherapy.  

Professional Affiliations

Dr. Newes is a member of the North Carolina Psychological Association (NCPA), the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP), and the Western North Carolina Psychological Association. She is the previous Chair of the Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group (TAPG) of the Association for Experiential Education (AEE). She is also active in the Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Industry Council (OBHIC and is  involved with MAPS.  

Education

Dr. Newes attended The Pennsylvania State University for her doctoral work in Clinical Psychology, where she combined research and clinical work with a focus on organizational development. She earned her MA degree in Clinical Psychology at Humboldt State University in California and attended University of Central Florida for her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Interpersonal Communication.
